Reading Plus SCHOOL BOARD SUMMARY May 2018.docx
Summary: Company will support the District with an online learning software program to support student achievement in English Language Arts in the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). This online learning software program, slated for September 1, 2018 to August 30, 2019, will provide the necessary supports for students to prepare for the Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System (RICAS).

Reading Plus is a web-based silent reading fluency assessment and remediation program for students in grades 3 and above. It is designed to engage students with complex text by developing all three dimensions of successful readers: capacity, efficiency, and motivation. Students self-select information (STEM and Social Science) and literary texts for eight high-interest categories. Interest profiles help students make connections between their own interest and curriculum topics while igniting curiosity and expanding knowledge. Game mechanics provide incentive for even the most reluctant readers, while mastery goals provide all students with greater degree of choice and control over their learning experiences.

1. The following schools will have access to Reading Plus: Central High School, Hope High School, Mt. Pleasant High School, Alvarez, E-Cubed Academy, Roger Williams Middle School, 360, DelSesto Middle School

2. The Reading Plus Account Services team will provide ½ Day of professional development as purchased by 360, DelSesto Middle School, Ecubed Academy, and Mount Pleasant High School. Available services include: Initial Administrator Training, Initial Teacher Training, Follow-up Training, on-going check-ins and assistance with student data analysis.
